Strengthening Families and Challenging Youth
The basic building block of society is the individual family unit. To repair a broken community we must strive to first solidify the boundaries of at-risk families. TCC strives to strengthen families and to provide programs for youth that will serve to build a sense of community. From family counseling to camping, TCC strives to develop model programs for strong families and thriving youth.
Providing Economic Opportunity
Inner-city neighborhoods often have few models of successful entrepreneurship and economic stability. The result is a loss of financial, physical and human resources from areas that desperately need them. TCC’s programs teach financial literacy and business principles, link area businesses with job applicants and networks neighbors with skills to neighbors in need. The goal is to create economically strong, self-sustaining communities.
Developing Urban Leaders
Successful leaders often move from at-risk areas to greener pastures. This loss of mentors and successful professional and business examples creates a leadership vacuum in at-risk communities. TCC is partnering with faith-based organizations throughout New Orleans to develop indigenous leaders and provide training for those exploring urban ministry.
Improving Neglected Communities
Litter-filled vacant lots, substandard housing, drugs and disenfranchisement are hallmarks of many New Orleans neighborhoods. TCC is working to create clean, green communities and foster ownership of neglected communities via home repair programs, clearing vacant lots, counseling addicts, starting neighborhood organizations, and strategizing for the future.
Networking Faith-Based Organizations
A wise Christian leader once said, “it takes the whole church to win the whole city.” TCC provides training opportunities and resources for faith-based organizations having an impact on at-risk communities throughout New Orleans. Through collaborative efforts, more lives can be changed and our reach can be greatly expanded.
